'Trusting Our Deliverer'

Psalm 24

This morning we are continuing our summer series in the Psalms by looking at Psalm 25.
Written in the form of an acrostic poem, this Psalm of David is, as Dale Ralph Davis says, “A rag-tag plea about deliverance, forgiveness and guidance, with nothing but the dry bones of the Hebrew alphabet to hold the mix together.” But, what does David’s poetic pleas and petitions to God have to do with the chaos of life in the middle of a pandemic in the 21st century?
The Psalm teaches us that, just like David understood, in every circumstance we can trust our deliverer.

Message Points:

In all circumstances, trust the deliverer:

  1. Because He has paid the price for our delivery
  2. Because He knows where He is taking us

Application Questions:

  1. What areas of your life are you needing God’s guidance in right now? How might this Psalm reassure you that God is still instruction, teaching and guiding you?

  2. What ways do you try to rely on your own abilities or circumstances rather than on God, our deliverer?

  3. Is there someone in your life that could do with you sharing verse 10 with, to bring hope, reassurance or comfort? "All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant."
