'New Life The Dead Receive'

So far John has shown how Jesus has power over sickness, power over nature and power to change water into wine and produce food for a multitude. Today we come to the penultimate miracle of Jesus recorded in John's gospel. It looks ahead to, and anticipates, the greatest miracle that all four gospel writers affirm - the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.

In John chapter 11 Jesus is faced with the greatest problem facing humanity since the Fall - the seemingly final and irreversible problem of death. Here we find the source of some of the most important and powerful words that Jesus ever spoke as he confronted the reality of this seemingly impossible problem, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”
Today, he asks you the same question he asked that grieving sister - “Do you believe this?”
