It seems that Christmas in our society starts earlier every year. Many of our shops had brought in their Christmas merchandise in some cases before they had even removed their Halloween merchandise. Often we bemoan the fact that Christmas starts so early. Wouldn't it be time enough for it to begin in December?
The surprising thing is when we open the Bible we find Christmas starts early there too. Much earlier than we would expect. The first mention of Christmas isn't in Mathew or Luke. The first mention of Christmas isn't even in the prophecies of Isaiah or Micah. The first mention of the story we celebrate at Christmas comes in a very surprising place. It comes right at the start of the Bible story. This morning we are thinking about Christmas in Eden.
